DIFFERENT KIND OF OTR REFERENCE BOOK
(From Radio Recall, February 2006)

Ever wondered where to find scripts, recordings, station logs... and more? If you've looking for the scripts for a certain program, or recordings anywhere of a specific program, or just more information about an individual radio performer or station then...

.... this new OTR publication, A Resource Guide to the Golden Age of Radio: Special Collections, Bibliography, and the Internet by Susan and David S. Siegel (Book Hunter Press, 2006) may be just what you're looking for.

After a year of research, the Siegels have put together a very different kind of OTR reference book, one that identifies 3,800 primary and secondary sources with print and audio information about radio programming and history from the mid–1920s to the mid–1960s.

The 215 page hardcover book includes:

2,300 Special Collections scattered in academic and public libraries, historical societies, museums, corporate archives and private collections throughout the United States. In general they contain any of the following information: the personal and/or business papers of performers, writers, directors, station executives and owners and other people who had something to do with radio; scripts; sound recordings of local, regional and network programs, including many long forgotten programs; photographs; publicity material; memorabilia and other printed material.

The book also has 1,400 Bibliographic citations grouped into 54 convenient subject categories from Advertising to World War II and 100+ non commercial research oriented Internet sites with leads to additional resources. Its index integrates all 3,800 listings and which can be searched by person, program and subject or program genre.

The book was a joint effort by long time OTR archivist and historian David S. Siegel and his wife Susan, and sells for $48.00 plus $5.00 for media mail S & H or $10.00 for priority mail. The book can be ordered online from the publisher's web site, www.bookhunterpress.com/radio, or by calling (914) 245-6608.
